Research Services
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) IMAGInG FACILITY
Imaging for Biological, Materials and Biomaterials, Phamaceuticals, Nanotechnology products.
Our service
One-off or low volume research or inspection studies
Ideal for quick look/see, jump-the-queue or technical report
We offer an SEM imaging service for customer samples, using our TESCAN Vega4 system (see below). This service includes a report, with typically 10 high resolution images at varying magnifications, per sample. We work closely with our customer to achieve the desired results. This will be suitable for small or one-off studies, needing rapid turn-around.
For larger studies
We will provide an induction session and supervised access to a customer’s operator, to enable the customer to work through a series of samples on a session basis. Supervised access means that Oxartis staff will be available throughout the session, to start up, optimise the instrument settings, and shut down.
SEM Training course
We offer a basic training course which teaches the working principles of SEM and how to control the SEM without relying on a facility technician.
Introduction to SEM theory
Practical SEM controls
Hands-on session
Users will gain enough autonomy and confidence to maximise efficiency of each instrument session.

Tescan Vega4 SEM system
A high resolution tungsten filament emission instrument, with controllable acceleration voltage and beam current and working distance. controllable a spot size down to 15 nm, and resolution below 20 nm. The instrument is equiped with a 7-sample stage with full xyz and tilt control.
Gold splutter-coater
Controllable gold plasma deposition for non-conductive samples.
