Modelling tissue reconstruction

An important aspect of wound healing outcomes is the magnitude of contractile strain within the wound space. How these forces are transduced within a tissue engineering scaffold can drastically alter the wound healing outcome. A digital twin of the pro matrix scaffold in form of a finite element model allows for the prediction of mechanical behaviour in the presence of contractile forces present within a healing wound. The mechanical properties of the pro matrix scaffold then can be modulated by controlling the porosity during the manufacture process.
